Pit Bull Used As Bait Dog Found Injured. Animal Control officials and police in Anne Arundel County are trying to figure out where a pit bull that was used in a dogfighting operation may have come from after it was found severely injured.The dog, who officials have since named Rocky Road, was found in the 600 block of Andover Road in Linthicum on Thursday by a Good Samaritan, who called police.

Former Annapolis Mayor Callahan Dies At 70. Former Annapolis Mayor Dennis Callahan has died of a heart attack.His death Wednesday morning was confirmed by the Anne Arundel County government, where Callahan served as the chief administrative officer.Callahan, who served as mayor from 1985 to 1989, was 70. He lost a re-election bid in the 1989 Democratic primary.County Executive John Leopold said in a statement that Callahan was a “trusted friend and adviser.”Leopold said Callahan was his first cabinet selection after he was elected in 2006.

Some Maryland state lawmakers hope to impose criminal sanctions on people who do not report report suspected child abuse or neglect.Current state law requires reporting, but the state does does not have the power to prosecute when someone doesn’t follow the law. Prompted by events that unfolded at Penn State University involving Jerry Sandusky last year, lawmakers in Maryland are taking action to protect children, but members of the General Assembly are divided.
