Police: Officer Tipped Off Drug Suspects. Anne Arundel County police arrested one of their own over the weekend on allegations that he helped suspected drug dealers try to evade police.Cpl. Rick Alexander, 36, was arrested Friday on charges of obstruction and hindering a police officer, conspiracy to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to distribute cocaine and misconduct, police said.

Abused Goat Found Wandering, Gets New Home. An abused goat found wandering in Anne Arundel County last month with a chain around her neck has a new home at a 22-acre animal rescue ranch in Odenton.The 11-year-old goat who animal rescue officers named Tuscany was found wandering along a Linthicum road with a 23-pound chain embedded into her neck.Wendy Cozzone offered the goat a home as soon as she saw the story, The Capital of Annapolis reported. Cozzone said she has other goats on her ranch that people have abandoned.

Tree Cutting Incident Injures Hanover Man. A 54-year-old man was hurt in a tree cutting incident Saturday morning in Anne Arundel County.Fire officials said the victim was working from a ladder in the 1300 block of Craig Hill Court in Hanover when the incident happened.Fire crews said the man suffered head trauma.Investigators said they are unsure if the man was hurt after a tree fell on him or if the man was injured from the tree-cutting tool he was using.

Jury Selection Begins In Huguely Trial. Jury selection is set to begin in the trial against former University of Virginia lacrosse player George Huguely, who is accused of killing women’s lacrosse player Yeardley Love.The Cockeysville native was killed on May 3, 2010. Love, 22, was found face-down in a pool of blood by a roommate in their off-campus apartment near the university.Police arrested Huguely, her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend, and charged him with murder.
