Tractor-Trailer Crash Blocks Route 2 In Pasadena. Drivers traveling along Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) in Anne Arundel County should expect some delays Tuesday morning due to an overturned tractor-trailer.The crash happened in Pasadena at about 6 a.m. on the northbound ramp to Route 10 from Ritchie Highway.Crews shut down the ramp to clean up debris that was spilled all over the road, Sky Team 11 Capt. Roy Taylor said. It was still closed at 7:30 a.m.Taylor reported that the Department of Environment will have to offload all the fuel from the truck and then clean up all the debris before they can move the tractor-trailer.

Police Probe Vehicle Break-Ins At Arundel Mills Mall. Police in Anne Arundel County are investigating a string of vehicle break-ins outside Arundel Mills Mall on Friday night.More than a dozen vehicles were burglarized outside the mall as the members of Baltimore’s Finest Auto Club were eating dinner.When the victims returned to their cars around 11 p.m., they said they found their windows broken out and their personal items missing. One car was stolen, police said.

Anne Arundel County Man With 1 Hour To Live Survives. An Anne Arundel County man with an illness that basically forced his lungs to shut down said he has a new lease on life.Garth Thorpe, 29, is an educator who does missionary work around the world. As Thorpe headed back home from Bangladesh after one trip, he began to feel feverish and achy.”My chest was hurting really bad. I did five push-ups, and there was no way I could have pulled a muscle,” said Thorpe.His illness called for some quick action on the part of medical professionals at two hospitals. Doctors said he made it home just in the nick of time. Thorpe’s parents rushed him to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where his vital signs dipped to alarming levels. His lungs were full of fluid and not working properly.

Activists Angered Over Anne Arundel Councilman’s ‘Gook’ Remark. The choice of words by an Anne Arundel County council member has angered some civil rights and community activists.Those angered vowed to gather at the council meeting Tuesday to show their displeasure.The Baltimore Sun reported that during a meeting Thursday to decide on a new council member, Dick Ladd used the term “gooks.” Ladd is a Vietnam veteran and used the term in reference to enemy combatants during the war, said 11 News reporter Barry Simms.Carl Snowden, a civil rights activist, said people should turn out for the sole purpose of watching democracy in action. “Someone asked me why are you involved, the Asian-Americans were offended. My response is we all should be offended.”
