After a joint investigation between the Anne Arundel County Police Department and State’s Attorneys Office, Anne Arundel County Police Corporal Rick Alexander was arrested and charged by the Anne Arundel County Police Department with Obstruction and Hindering a Police Officer, Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana, Misconduct in Office and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine.
On February 02, 2012, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Anne Arundel County Police Southern District PACT Unit and the Special Operation Section (QRT) executed a narcotics search and seizure warrant in the 1300 Block of Juniper Street, Shadyside, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
There were approximately five suspects detained and a search was conducted. Detectives interviewed all suspects. During the course of the investigation, information was obtained that the residents of the home had received communication from Cpl. Alexander that a search warrant was going to be executed at their home. Cpl. Alexander was working at the time of the incident assigned to the Southern portion of Anne Arundel County. Detectives confirmed that the suspects had known Cpl. Alexander prior to the search warrant being executed at their home.
On February 3, 2012, members of the Professional Standards Unit, along with the State’s Attorneys Office, continued the investigation throughout the day. Detectives were able to confirm these allegations through conversations and phone records between Cpl. Alexander and one of the suspects.
As a result of the search warrant execution, very small quantities of suspected CDS were recovered from the residence. However, detectives were later directed to another location where they located 82.9 grams of suspected marijuana. The estimated street value of the suspected marijuana is approximately $829.00. According to the suspects, the CDS had been removed from the residence and concealed in another location prior to the execution of the search warrant as a result of Corporal Rick Alexander’s warning.
Corporal Alexander, 36 years of age, is a fourteen year member of the department and was assigned to the Patrol Services Bureau. Corporal Alexander was taken before a District Court Commissioner and released on his own personal recognizance.

Very misleading headline
Hard headline to come up with. Here are the charges:
Obstruction and Hindering a Police Officer, Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana, Misconduct in Office and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine.
Isn’t it though? But “suspected, alleged” and “conspiracy” won’t get his headlines read.
Conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marajuana sound like drug charges to me not to mention tipping off a drug house to a search warrant operation. So I would say the headlines aren’t misleading at all.
