Get ready for spring gardening by taking an “Introduction to Square Foot Gardening” to be offered from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 7, 14, 21, and 28 at the Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie.
During these four sessions, students will learn the 10 Basics of Square Foot Gardening (SFG), a simple small-space, high-yield gardening method created by Mel Bartholomew using raised beds and a soil-less growing medium. In class discuss how to plan your own custom SFG for your individual needs. Other areas to be covered are making that special growing medium, extending your growing season, protecting your crops from cold and critters, making a SFG for those with limited mobility or who use a wheel chair, vertical gardening, and much more.
The cost for the workshop is $20, payable to instructor, Kim Roman, at registration. The fee includes materials. Register early in the senior center office as space is limited. Call 410-222-6680 for information.
