Robots To Invade AACC

An opportunity for hands-on fun with science and technology while honing skills in teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving enticed 16 teams of students ages 9-16 to build and bring robots to a Jan. 21 competition at Anne Arundel Community College.

AACC is hosting “The Battle by the Bay,” a FIRST® LEGO® League qualifier tournament featuring LEGO robots the teams of students built and programmed. FIRST® LEGO® League is a worldwide robotics program. Join students, judges and supporters at the opening ceremony at 12:45 p.m. Saturday on the Arnold campus. The action (competition) runs 1:30-3:30 p.m. followed by a closing ceremony and awards at 4 p.m. Cheer on these participating teams:

  • Eagle Cove Green Bricks – Eagle Cove School, Severna Park
  • Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies – Annapolis Area Christian School, Annapolis
  • GO GO Mango – Meade Village Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, Meade Village
  • Just SmartBots – Ernest Just Middle School, Bowie
  • LegoBears – Landon School, Bethesda
  • Nexus Force – Grace Christian School, Bowie
  • Pineapple Punch – Annapolis Area Christian School, Annapolis
  • RoboBears – Landon School, Bethesda
  • Smarties – Bywater Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, Annapolis
  • Spiritual LEGO Builders – Grace Christian School, Bowie
  • Summit Robotics – The Summit School, Edgewater
  • Team Infinity – Patriots Technology Training Center, Clinton
  • Teen Dreamers – Girl Scouts of America Troop #2701, Bowie
  • The LEGOBOTS – Grace Christian School, Bowie
  • The Nerd Herd – Pershing Hill Middle School, Fort Meade
