Murder In Laurel Community Of Russett

On January 6, 2012, at approximately 2:23 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to the 8000 block of Ians Alley in Laurel for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers learned from the victim that he was shot after being approached by two subjects in his driveway. The unknown suspects fled the area on foot. Numerous officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.

The victim, identified as Gregory Robert Sears, 36, of the 8000 block of Ians Alley in Laurel, Maryland, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died.

The suspects were described as two black males wearing masks. The motive remains under investigation and it is unknown at this time if this was a random or targeted act of violence.
