The Second Annual Annapolis Irish Festival will be held on July 14th at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 10am. Expected attendance for 2012 is 15,000 people.
In 2011 ten thousand (10,000) people clamored to the Fairgrounds for the Inaugural Irish Festival. Start to finish it was a glorious day. Live Music and entertainment from Annapolis’ favorite Celtic Rock band – The Rovers, The Screaming Orphans, Seamus Kennedy, James Gallagher and Off The Boat, The Shamrogues, those hot lassies of Burning Bridget Cleary, the Culkin’ Irish step Dancers, and the Chesapeake Caledonian’s Pipe and Drums kept the crowd on their feet. An array of vendors brought the flavor of the Emerald Isle here to Annapolis with authentic Irish, foods, crafts, clothing jewelry and art. The Family Pavilion (Leprechaun Land) was a huge favorite with parents and wee ones all enjoying the free entertainment, Irish Dance Lessons, Drum and Pipe workshops, pony rides, arts and crafts, face painting and other fun activities for the wee ones. – all complimentary.
The 2012 Festival site has been expanded and a third stage added to accommodate more Celtic Bands, Irish Dancers, Pipers and Live entertainment. Over 60 vendors will offer authentic Irish crafts, foods, clothing and jewelry, bringing the flavor of the Emerald Isle back to Annapolis once again. The expanded Little Leprechaun Land – Family Pavilion will again keep the wee ones happy with face painters, pony rides, a balloon artist, an heritage table, family entertainment, Irish Step Dance workshops, magic show, and Ireland’s own Seamus Kennedy all under cover and included in the price of admission.
The Festival’s music line up will put you in orbit; Scythian, Albannach, The Rogues, Barley Juice, The Rovers, Ice Wagon Flu, Screaming Orphans, Kilmaine Saints, Crossing Celtic, Seamus Kennedy, the Chesapeake Caledonian Pipes and Drums, The Culkin and Broesler Schools of Irish Dance and others still to be added.
This year, a special Sneak Preview will be held on Friday, July 13 from 5-10pm. Three of your favorite Celtic Bands will take the Main Stage as the sun begins to set and the party commences.
