Adaptive Summer Day Camps

The Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues encourages parents of youth ages 5 to 21 with disabilities to attend the Summer Camp Fair offered by the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Severna Park High School, 60 Robinson Road, Severna Park.

Staff will be available to discuss inclusive opportunities in the Recreation and Parks Department’s Adaptive Day Camps and Summer Fun Centers. The fair also will showcase all of the Department’s summer programs.

Parents can receive information on the inclusive adaptive camps for youth of all abilities that will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the summer, with extended day until 5:30 p.m., one at Lake Waterford Park in Pasadena and the other at Mayo Beach Park.

Early registration will be available for those attending the fair. A sum of $75 will hold a registration with a check or money order made payable to Anne Arundel County. Online and mail in registration will be available on Feb. 15.

In addition, youth volunteer options are available for those entering grades 7-9. The Volunteer Summer Serve Program will provide middle school age with opportunities to be “peer mentors” to youth with disabilities at the Adaptive Day Camps. Apply by May 4 to be considered.

For more information on inclusion and adaptive program opportunities or volunteer information for the summer programs, contact Wendy Scarborough at 410-222-7313.
