Judge Drops Serious Charge Against Schurick. A judge tossed out one of the most serious charges against former Gov. Bob Ehrlich aide Paul Schurick.Judge Larry Fletcher Hill ruled Thursday morning that the state failed to provide enough evidence that Schurick committed obstruction of justice.Schurick is accused of teaming up with political consultant Julius Henson to keep black voters at home in the 2010 gubernatorial election.”It’s a big deal. It’s a serious count, and it goes to the substance of our case, which is that Paul Schurick did not have bad intentions,” said defense attorney Mathew Bennett.

Giordano Denies Involvement In Gardner Disappearance. Defiant and combative, an American businessman suspected in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba said Thursday that he had nothing to do with her disappearance. Appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Gary Giordano defended his actions in the wake of Robyn Gardner’s disappearance, criticized his former attorney and said the Aruban economy was driven by cocaine and human trafficking. Later Thursday, the chief Aruban prosecutor said Giordano remains the chief suspect in Gardner’s death and that the investigation remains active.

Hearing Set For MD Redistricting Lawsuit. A hearing has been scheduled in federal court for a lawsuit against Maryland’s congressional redistricting map. The hearing has been set for Dec. 20 in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt. The hearing will be held before a three-judge panel that includes Judge Paul Neimeyer, of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals; Judge Alexander Williams, of Maryland; and Judge Roger Titus, of Maryland.
