Anne Arundel Police Probe Early Morning Sexual Assault.  Detectives in Anne Arundel County are investigating a sexual assault report they received early Wednesday.A woman told officers that she met a man Tuesday evening at a bar on Crain Highway and left the business with the man.”The victim indicated that she was walking with the subject in the 300 block of Hospital Drive when the suspect sexually assaulted her,” the police department said in a news release.

Maryland’s Chance For A White Christmas–Not Good. If you were hoping for a white Christmas in Maryland, don’t hold your breath.Cornell University’s Northeast Regional Climate Center has listed its probabilities for a white Christmas, and Baltimore’s chances don’t look good.With just a 12 percent chance of at least 1 inch of snow on the ground, Baltimore is ranked 27th out of the 31 ranked cities in the Northeast.

Domestic Violence Increases During Holidays. Local officials hope to help prevent incidents of suicide and domestic violence dramatically, which increase during the holiday season, according to law enforcement officials.In September 1999, Lisa Spicknall’s husband, Richard, drove their two children to a bridge over the Choptank River, killing them all.”Their father had committed the ultimate act of domestic violence,” she said. “He shot and murdered my two beautiful children.”

Hospital’s Weight Loss Program Combats Childhood Obesity. One in three children in the U.S. is either obese or overweight, and experts predict that the current generation of kids is the first that won’t outlive their parents.A Maryland hospital is trying to reverse that trend.Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital’s Weigh Smart Program is an intensive program for children ages 8 to 17 with a less-traditional approach to weight loss. Half of the program focuses on education and learning how to change unhealthy habits for a lifetime, while the other half focuses on exercise.
