Fight At South River High Causes Stir

The Edgewater Patch broke a story about a fight that broke out at South River High School in Edgewater on Wednesday morning.  The fight, and the response of the school has caused quite a dust up in the comment section.

The school’s spokesman, Bob Mosier sent the following statement to Edgewater Patch:

The  school’s administration, in conjunction with the School Resource Officer, addressed this situation quickly. This is an ongoing investigation and as such, I cannot comment on specifics. However, I will say that appropriate disciplinary action was taken against students found to be involved and in those cases, parents of students were involved in discussions with administrators.

While the school may indeed be investigating the incident, the video brings up several questions:

  1. Where is the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s School Resource Officer?
  2. Where is the school crossing guard who is stationed just outside the frame of the video?
  3. Why did the driver of the empty* bus not get out and try to intervene?  (See below for new video showing driver trying to intervene)

*presumably empty since this was in the morning and the location was on the road exiting to Route 214 after drop off.

There are several videos of the incident, all of which have strong language.

This fourth video surfaced a few minutes ago and in it you can see that the bus driver did come out of the bus and try to intervene.
