Eastport Yacht Club Light Parade Tonight

Annapolis Mayor Joshua J. Cohen and Eastport Yacht Club Commodore Rick Jackson invite you to enjoy an Annapolis tradition and bring the family out to see to the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade.

The parade lights up the Annapolis waterfront with boats of all shapes and sizes, brightly decorated for the Holiday season. This festive maritime event is great fun for the entire family. Skippers participate for the fun of it and circle the waterfront in two fleets: one circling in front of Eastport, the City Dock and the Naval Academy seawall; the other circling the length of Spa Creek, inside the bridge.

This year the Lights Parade will be held on Saturday, December 10, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The event will occur rain or shine. Only high winds will force a cancellation.

Unfortunately, this year’s fireworks have been canceled. “The Eastport Yacht Club must regrettably cancel the fireworks display that was scheduled to occur at the conclusion of the Eastport Yacht Club’s Annual Lights Parade due to circumstances beyond our control,” Commodore Rick Jackson said. “The contractor who was scheduled to provide the barge for the display recently informed the Club that he is no longer in business and unable to provide the equipment. Still, the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade will go on as scheduled and we expect the entries to surpass those of prior years with more and brighter lights that will thrill children of all ages.”

Entries this year include: Chesapeake Reindeer, Holiday Star, Doves of Peace, Old Train, Big Red Christmas, Winter Wonderland, and Santa, Rudolph and the Elves.

More than 50 volunteers work all year long to produce this event, a gift to the city of Annapolis from the Eastport Yacht Club. Twenty to thirty thousand people line the waterfront each year to watch this glittering holiday parade.

The Lights Parade can be viewed from Susan Campbell Park, Ego Alley, the Spa Creek Bridge and all along the banks of Spa Creek on both the Annapolis and Eastport side of the creek.

$5 all day parking is available at the Park Place garage, located at Westgate Circle. The Circulator Trolley will pick up visitors outside the garage and move them every 10 minutes from Park Place to the downtown area and back to the garage until 2:30 in the morning. The Circulator Trolley can be hailed from anywhere along the route and is free of charge for the holidays.

Please note – the City will not provide trolley service to or from the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday, December 10.
