Code Red December 8th

| December 06, 2011, 04:48 PM | 0 Comments

An All-Call Test of the CodeRED alert system will take place on Thursday, December 8 at 10:00 a.m.  It will be conducted by the City of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management to test dissemination of important information.

If you registered, you will receive a call.  The CodeRED system offers individuals an automated telephone message or text message service providing brief information on emergency situations and important instructions.

For Annapolis residents, CodeRED will be used solely at the direction of the City & County for emergency and general information.

The high-speed telephone calling system is capable of making several thousand calls per minute to traditional landline phones, cell phones and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phones. CodeRED delivers messages to both answered phone lines and answering devices. This system allows the City or County to target smaller geographic areas as well, alerting the public to specific localized emergencies such as a contained water-main break or police action.

To ensure that your phone number is registered and to provide additional numbers, please go to http://bit.ly/q9TZM4 to register.

To ensure that your phone number is registered and to provide additional numbers, please go to the City website at www.annapolis.gov/oem  or the County website at www.aacounty.org/oem . Click on the CodeRED Logo on the left hand side of the page to register.

If you do not have internet access, please contact a friend or family member for help signing up. Required information includes a street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes) for location purposes and a primary phone number. Additional phone numbers, email and text addresses may also be entered. If you have questions, you may contact the City of Annapolis at 410-216-9167 or Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management at 410-222-0600 for assistance. Original

There is no fee for signing up for the service; however standard rates apply for texting and mobile minutes for all cell phones. This information is also disclosed during the sign up process.

If you are registering a cell phone, take a moment to program 866-419-5000 in your contacts as a CodeRED Emergency call. All information entered will remain private and confidential.
