Arlo Guthrie To Perform In Annapolis

The Children’s Theatre of Annapolis is pleased to announce that folk legend Arlo Guthrie will be performing at the CTA main stage Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 8 PM.   This concert will benefit the organization’s arts education programming and its performing arts facility located at 1661 Bay Head Road, Bay Head Park, in Annapolis.  Tickets will be available beginning on Friday, November 25.

CTA presents a concert with Arlo Guthrie, his son Abe, grandson Krishna, and longtime collaborator Terry a la Berry.  This evening of American folk music, which will be open to the public, is presented in an intimate 286 seat performance facility.  Mr. Guthrie is a renowned folk and blues guitarist and plays over a dozen instruments.  Mr. Guthrie’s reputation as the bearer of the American folk tradition spans over 4 decades and his performances include appearances at every major folk festival worldwide,  with acclaimed symphony orchestras in the Unites States and Europe, the Woodstock festival, and more. He has released or appeared on over 80 recordings with dozens of artist from Pete Seeger to Doc Watson and Willie Nelson.  A storyteller in the unique American tradition of Mark Twain and Will Rogers, Mr. Guthrie’s famed “shaggy dog” stories are woven through his performances.  Mr. Guthrie’s lifelong work for social justice is reflected in his music and this legacy provides inspiration for the next generation of folk artists.
