2011 Volunteer Project Hall Of Fame Inductees

This year’s Volunteer Project Hall of Fame Celebration will be held on November 10, 2011. Capital One Bank will host this event at the Yellowfin Restaurant in Edgewater, Maryland.

The Volunteer Project Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County and the Coordinators of Volunteers of Anne Arundel County (COVAAC). This year seven Volunteer Projects were judged to have had the greatest impact for the residents of Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis. These projects plus two “Legacy Award” winners will be inducted into the Volunteer Project Hall of Fame.

Keynote Speaker, Chris Poulsen, program manager and head of community initiatives for Anne Arundel County Social Services, emcee Georgiana Maszczenski of COVAAC, and Talia Grover, president of the board of the Volunteer Center, will welcome the nine new inductees into the Volunteer Project Hall of Fame.

Project Awards:

  • Operation Welcome Home (MD) for BWI Welcome Heroes Project– Soldier Outreach Award
  • South County Assistance Network for SCAN Food Bank – Faith-Based Project Award
  • Anne Arundel RSVP for VIPS/Reserve Officer Program – Answering the Call Award
  • AACC Interior Design Students for Hope House Lounge Project — Young Leaders Award
  • Gingerville Community Assoc. for Gingerville Woods Rain Garden Project – EcoStar Award
  • Eastport United Methodist Church for Homework/Reading Club Project — Kids at Hope Award
  • Solid Rock CDC for Community Baby Shower Project — Community Collaboration Award

Special Legacy Awards:

The Celebration will also applaud the accomplishments of six finalists: Hospice of the Chesapeake “Tuck-In Team”; Ft. Meade Naval Volunteers/Housing Authority City of Annapolis “Adult Computer Classes”; Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel County “Bountiful Backpack” project; South County Assistance Network “Services for Seniors”; RSVP’s “Volunteer Income Tax Assistance – VITA”; and Partners in Care “Repairs with Care” project.
