War Of 1812 Planning Conference

To stimulate partnerships among stakeholders in the upcoming War of 1812 bicentennial, the Maryland War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission is presenting a series of conferences to familiarize stakeholders with the sites, stories and organizations related to the War of 1812 in Maryland.
Conferences have been held in Southern Maryland, Prince George’s County, the Head of the Bay region, the Upper Eastern Shore,North Point and Baltimore City. The next conference of this series is in Annapolis, Oct. 24. Participants at the Annapolis event will meet at the Maryland State Archives. The subsequent tour includes visits to:

Fort Nonsense (site of the only remnant of what was once a chain of forts to protect Annapolis during the War of 1812); U.S. Naval Academy (home of several exhibits, monuments, and relics of the War of 1812 including the USNA Museum, and  the U.S. Navy Trophy Flag Collections); and the Maryland State House (the wooden dome of the state house, the largest in the United States, was used as an observation station for British movements on the Chesapeake Bay during the War of 1812).
