State Police Apprehend Child Abductor In Annapolis

UPDATE:  The Maryland State Police issued this information in error overnight. The actual event took place in 2006.

Maryland State Police located and arrested a man accused of abducting his child from a school in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

The man, Donald Joseph Brown, an Anne Arundel County resident abducted his child from the school last week after hitting a school employee with his vehicle. West Virginia authorities along with Maryland State Police narrowed their search to three homes in Anne Arundel County.

Last night, state police descended on a home on Magnolia Ridge Road (not the suspect’s home) and quickly arrested Brown as he tried to escape from the rear of the house into the woods.

He is being detained on a $500,000 bond and is charged with violating an out of state custody order. Charges are pending in West Virginia.

His son is currently in the care of Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services.
