With the help of a funding grant, the computer laboratory at the Stanton Community Center (SCC) recently installed 12 new computers.
The addition of these new computers offer:
- residents with computer skills the ability to apply online for employment opportunities
- After-School Homework Club students the ability to research information for homework and other school-related projects and
- Adult Basic Skills to students attending classes through a partnership with Anne Arundel Community College (held Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.)
In addition, the Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) is currently offering a basic computer instruction class for residents of the City. These classes are being conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. To register for the class, please contact Edward Greene at 410-222-1287.
SCC seeks volunteers to assist in the computer lab at various times each week. Interested volunteers should contact Jim Turner at 410.295.5519 or [email protected]. To volunteer with the After-School Homework Club, please contact Archie Trader at 410.263.7966 or [email protected].
