Bicyclist Struck By Car In Severna Park Dies. A man riding a bicycle has died after a car struck him, Anne Arundel County police said.Police said Matthew Jeffrey Young, 40, was struck Friday at about 7:30 p.m. in Severna Park.Police said Young, a homeless man, was wearing dark clothing and that the roadway he was riding on does not have much light. Police said the bike he was riding had a makeshift headlight, but a flashing light on the back of the bike does not appear to have been on.

Neighbors Cry Foul Over Anne Arundel Woman’s Chickens. Some Anne Arundel County residents are upset over a woman’s chickens.Jane Narlee has kept five hens in her back yard for the last two years; however, a neighbor’s recent complaints to the county about the birds claims the animals smell and that their food has attracted rats, The Annapolis Capital reported.The county said Narlee’s lot doesn’t fit requirements for keeping the birds and have given her until Oct. 27 to get rid of them.Narlee said the birds are not just a source of eggs but also family pets. She plans to appeal the decision.

MacPhail Won’t Return To Orioles. The Orioles announced that Andy MacPhail has elected not to return as President of Baseball Operations for the 2012 season.“On behalf of the Orioles organization, I thank Andy for his service to the club over the last four and a half seasons,” said Orioles Managing Partner Peter Angelos. “Andy’s knowledge and experience have helped lay the groundwork for our future success. I hold Andy in the highest regard and thank him for his commitment and dedication to the Orioles.

Apparently Marylanders’ desire to seek out pumpkins, apple cider and hay rides during the fall season is good for the state’s bottom line.According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Maryland agricultural tourism has evolved into a multimillion-dollar industry. The most recent agricultural census data shows that Maryland’s 231 agro-tourism farms generated $7.3 million in 2007.State Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance said visiting the farms is a fun time, and it also supports local farmers.
