Memory Screening Day Scheduled

Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie, will host a free Memory Screening Day with appointments between 9:30 a.m. and noon Nov. 16.

Memory screening is a simple and safe evaluation tool that assesses memory and other intellectual functions, and indicates whether additional testing is necessary. Screening is not used to diagnosis any particular illness and does not replace consultation with a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional.

Mary C. Fridley, a registered nurse and founder of Gero-Resources LLC, will conduct the face-to-face screenings. They take 10 minutes and consist of a series of questions and/or tasks designed to test memory, language skills, thinking ability, and other intellectual functions. Results of the memory screening are confidential. She will review the screening results with the individual and suggest whether or not one needs additional testing.

Screening tools along with promotional and educational materials will be provided by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

To participate in the 10th annual National Memory Screening Day, call the Pascal Senior Activity Center at 410-222-6680 to schedule an appointment. The center is one of seven senior centers operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.
