UPDATED: From the Annapolis Police Department, many resources were used for an unfounded search and rescue. The man seems to have willfully jumped off the bridge. It seems he was able to swim to shore and somehow got home. It would have been difficult to swim from the Spa Creek Bridge to Thomas Point Road in 30 minutes. Police have not said if he will be facing any charges or be required to reimburse the City, County, and State for the unnecessary use of resources.
At approx 0342 hrs Alexander Cramer W/M 01/15/92 decided to jump off the Eastport Bridge while his brother watched him. Alexander was last seen swimming in the water however his brother did not see him get out of the water. A search was conducted involving a MSP helicopter, AACo dive unit, an engine, squad and medic unit from AFD, DNR, the Coast Guard, and Cpl. Vaden. At approx 0415 hrs AACo PD located Alexander walking on Thomas Point Rd near his residence. He was found unharmed and the search was called off.
Just before 4:00am this morning, a man jumped from the Eastport Bridge near the Annapolis Yacht Club. Calls for help were reported and the rescue crews called in a Maryland State Police helicopter to assist in the search along with units from Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Annapolis Fire Department and Natural Resources.
Within the hour, the individual was found alive and well, on shore at a nearby home 1 mile from the scene.
