A chain-reaction crash in Gambrills that began with a pair of pedestrians attempting to cross a busy road ended with seven people hurt, Anne Arundel County Fire crews said.Authorities said two teenage girls tried to cross northbound Route 3, near Waugh Chapel Road, when one of them was struck by a car. When the car that hit the girl stopped, another car slammed into the back of it, investigators said.
Police: Hit & Run Victim Taken To Hospital In Anne Arundel. Anne Arundel County police are investigating a Friday morning hit-and-run that sent a man to Shock Trauma with serious leg injuries.Police responded shortly before 5 a.m. to the 900 block of Generals Highway in Crownsville and found a man in the front yard of a residence.The man had been walking southbound on the northbound shoulder of the highway when he was hit by a vehicle, police said.According to investigators, the vehicle didn’t stop at the scene. The victim told police that he crawled to the residence where he was eventually found.
Suspended License Arrest Nets $10K In Cocaine For Anne Arundel Police. Anne Arundel County police arrested two people Thursday after a search of their cars netted nearly $10,000 worth of cocaine. Officers said they witnessed Lovester Johnson driving on a suspended license on Annapolis Road in Severn on Thursday and followed him.Police said they watched Johnson pull over and get a bag out of the trunk as another vehicle pulled up next to him. A person in that car, identified as Melissa Day, 40, of Severna Park, then got in Johnson’s car.Officers approached the vehicle and arrested Johnson on charges that he was driving on a suspended license.
BGE Defends Slow Restoration. Baltimore Gas and Electric Company announced that it has restored electric service to nearly all of the 750,000 customers affected by Hurricane Irene and is aggressively working to restore service to the remaining customers.Patience had been plummeting and frustration running high among the BGE customers who — at least as of Friday afternoon — still did not have service since Hurricane Irene blew through the area.
