Millions For Job Training Coming To Anne Arundel Community College. The federal government is giving Anne Arundel County Community College close to $20 million to help develop job training programs.The school is playing a lead role in developing programs across the country, said education reporter Tim Tooten.Anne Arundel Community College competed with more than 400 schools nationally to land the grant to prepare more students for high-demand jobs in science, technology, engineering and math.

2nd Pig Caught In Anne Arundel County. The second piggy has come home — sort of.Anne Arundel County authorities said Wednesday that the second of two pot-bellied pigs running around the Linthicum area has been found.The pigs had been seen roaming next to the Hammonds Ferry Business Park in recent days. One of them was caught Thursday.Meanwhile, the second pig was found Wednesday in the 600 block of Hammonds Ferry Road. Police said animal control workers used a tranquilizer “as there were growing concerns for the pig’s safety based on his more recent activities.”

Man Shot, Killed During Busy Rush Hour. There was a chaotic scene in east Baltimore on Wednesday after a man was shot and killed in broad daylight in a busy area of the city.Shots were fired outside the Krispy King Carryout in the 1400 block of East Fayette Street around 4 p.m., not far from Dunbar High School and Johns Hopkins Hospital.The victim, a man in his 20s, died at the hospital a short time after being shot in the head, police said.

Orioles Close Out Season With Dramatic Win. The Boston Red Sox completed their September collapse in horrific and historic fashion, falling out of the playoff chase by allowing two ninth-inning runs in a 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.The Red Sox held a nine-game lead in the AL wild-card race after Sept. 3, but a 7-19 swoon left them tied with Tampa Bay entering the final day of the regular season.
