Cats Rescued From Shelter Up For Adoption. Several cats that were removed from an overrun rescue shelter in Anne Arundel County last week are now up for adoption.Animal Control seized 67 cats from the Cool Cats Rescue Center on Benfield Road in Severna Park on Wednesday. Officials said the cats were in varying medical conditions.Two cats were also found dead.

Poachers Looting The Chesapeake Bay. Looting the Chesapeake Bay has become big business and police are having a tough time cracking down on violators, the WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team has learned.The jewels of the Chesapeake Bay — rockfish, crabs and oysters — provide food and employment to Marylanders, and they’re important to bay’s environment.

Customers Rate BGE Performance. Customers who went days without power after Hurricane Irene sounded off on Baltimore Gas and Electricity, saying the utility didn’t fare so well during the storm.Hurricane Irene came and went within 24 hours, but the storm left a lot of problems behind, including downed trees and knocked out power affecting more than 760,000 customers.

Comcast Helps Maryland Bridge The Digital Divide. Things are looking up for Maryland families — way up. A new effort is under way to help connect 250 families to cyberspace at an affordable price.Comcast introduced its new program Tuesday to address the digital divide, the gap between people who can afford technology and those who cannot. The new program lowers broadband Internet service to $9.95 a month.”We believe we have a shot to be able to make a real impact on the digital divide with this program,” said David Cohen of Comcast.
