Maryland Foreclosure Loan Program Ending. A Maryland program designed to help homeowners facing foreclosure is no longer taking applications.The Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program stopped accepting applications Friday. The federal government gave Maryland $36 million for the program to help homeowners who lost their jobs or had a reduction in wages.According to Rosa Cruz of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, the agency processed more than 3,600 EMA applications.

Delaware Killer Capano Found Dead In Prison. Tom Capano, a once wealthy and politically connected attorney serving life in prison for killing a mistress in 1996, has been found dead in his prison cell.State officials said the 61-year-old Capano, who spent time on death row before his death sentence was overturned, was found unresponsive Monday morning in his cell at the state prison in Smyrna. He was pronounced dead shortly after noon.Capano was convicted of shooting his mistress, Ann Marie Fahey, after she decided to end an affair with him.

Queen Anne’s County Residents Demand Change After Student’s Death. An Eastern Shore community is demanding change after a high school student became the latest person to die at the high-traffic intersection of routes 301 and 304 in Queen Anne’s County.Residents said the death of 15-year-old Connor Rice was further proof that the intersection was not safe, said 11 News reporter Kai Reed. “Children have to cross there every single day to get to school, and we’re tired of hearing about them losing their lives, ” said county resident Gay Gunther.

Bail Denied For Bowie Student Slaying Suspect. During a bail review hearing in Prince George’s County Circuit court, a judge denied bond Monday for 19-year-old Alexis Simpson, the Bowie State University student charged with murder in her roommate’s death. Investigators said they believe Simpson and her roommate, Dominique Frazier, 18, of Washington, were fighting over an iPod Thursday night when Simpson stabbed Frazier.Officers found Frazier in the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community building in the 14000 block of Jericho Park Road on the university’s campus. She later died at a hospital.
