333 Coffeehouse Presents Jennifer Cutting’s OCEAN Quartet

The 333 Coffeehouse, Annapolis’ monthly listening space for folk and acoustic music, is proud to present a performance by the OCEAN Quartet, Washington’s most prominent Celtic fusion group. This performance will feature the Quartet’s latest member, star fiddler Bob Spates. The Quartet will debut at least two new songs at this show, and will also perform songs from Jennifer Cutting’s award-winning CD OCEAN: Songs for the Night Sea Journey, which was the genesis of the OCEAN Orchestra and Quartet ensembles, and from the new OCEAN Orchestra CD Song of Solstice. Admission: $10 (students and senior citizens $8). The show is October 21, 2011 at 8:00pm and doors open at 7:30pm.

The OCEAN Quartet (Jennifer Cutting on accordions & keyboard; Lisa Moscatiello on vocals,  guitars & whistles; Bob Spates on fiddle; and Steve Winick on vocals) is an all-star band from the Washington, D.C. area that plays music packed with pure pan-Celtic pizzaz!  Winners of over 40 Washington Area Music Awards individually and collectively, OCEAN puts a unique Art-Pop spin on time-honored traditional songs and tunes of Scotland, England, and Ireland, and bandleader Jennifer Cutting contributes original compositions that are fast becoming part of the tradition. From soaring ballads and stirring sea chanteys to blazing fiddle and accordion tunes, folk instruments join forces with electronic keyboards for a sizzling synergy that will appeal to fans of folk, classical, and pop music alike. There’s nothing else like it…OCEAN is Celtic Music for Ancient Moderns!

Now in its 20th year, the 333 Coffeehouse is an acoustic concert series held the third Friday of every month at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis. 333 is a non-profit, smoke- and alcohol-free venue run by volunteers. It features traditional folk performers and songwriters. Inexpensive fare is served. With beautiful acoustics and a modest admission price, 333 is a terrific entertainment value.
