Leader Charged With Failing To File Tax Return. An Anne Arundel County councilman is in hot water with the Internal Revenue Service after officials said he failed to file a tax return.Darryl Jones was charged in federal court with never filing his taxes for 2005.Court records show the Severn resident received an income of more than $244,000 that year.Jones told The Baltimore Sun that he missed the deadline because he was dealing with his mother’s illness and death, but ultimately resolved the issue a few years ago.

$250K Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Edgewater, Anne Arundel. A Maryland Lottery player won $250,000 in the latest Mega Millions drawing.Lottery officials said Wednesday that the ticket was sold at Lucky’s Superette on Mayo Road in Edgewater. The winning numbers Tuesday were 14, 17, 19, 20, 32, and the Mega Ball was 28.The winner hadn’t come forward Wednesday afternoon.Friday’s jackpot will be $99 million.Mega Millions drawings air each Tuesday and Friday at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV 11.

Police: woman, 91, Fatally Stabbed.  A daughter returning home from work Wednesday afternoon found her 91-year-old mother dead on the kitchen floor from stab wounds, Baltimore police said.Relatives identified the victim as Irene Logan, whose body was found inside of her home in the 4700 block of Moravia Road in northeast Baltimore at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police did not say how long the woman’s body may have been there.”According to detectives, a family member discovered the body of an elderly female suffering from apparent stab wounds,” Baltimore City police Detective Nicole Monroe said.

Colts Legend And Police Academy Actor, Bubba Smith, Found Dead. Baltimore Colts’ No. 78 — Bubba Smith — was found dead Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles.Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said Smith was found dead Wednesday at his Baldwin Hills home. Winter said he didn’t know the circumstances or cause of death. Police spokesman Richard French said the death does not appear to be suspicious.Smith was 66. “He was one of the most-feared pass rushers of his era,” WBAL-TV 11 Sports Director Gerry Sandusky said. “I can tell you on a personal note, my father was his personal line position coach, and every Saturday, at Memorial Stadium, my brother, Joe, and I had a very important job: It was our job to get Bubba sodas, meet him at his locker, and we’d pull up a stool and sit around and listen to Bubba tell tales. It is a huge loss for all Baltimore Colts fans and football fans who grew up loving the game here in Baltimore.”
