Maryland Quake Damage Uncovered. The 5.8-magnitude East Coast earthquake that rocked several states on Tuesday made its mark on Maryland, and more minor damage was discovered as the day went on.Baltimore workers spent much of the late afternoon Tuesday assessing possible damage to buildings throughout the area. Much of the focus for city inspectors was on older homes and 10 buildings located around City Hall.

Natural Resources Police Warn Boaters To Prepare For Irene. Maryland Natural Resources Police are asking mariners to make plans to safeguard their vessels from Hurricane Irene.”Planning is the key to minimize injury and loss of life,” NRP said in a news release. “Boaters should make plans well in advance of the storm so that definite docking, mooring or hauling out of the vessel arrangements can be performed quickly and without delay.”

Sheriff: Paving Scam Artist May Be At Work Again In Queen Anne’s County. The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office said it believes a man who has been scamming elderly people out of money through paving projects across Maryland and in other states has been trying to scam people there.The Sheriff’s Office said it was informed Monday that Thomas Clack may be trying to perform possible home improvement fraud in the Mid-Shore area.Officials said Clack is offering paving services to elderly residents at a reduced cost, then after he completes the service, he charges the homeowner as much as $25,000, even though the service is generally valued at $6,000. 2 Alarm Fire Damages Arundel Business Center. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a two-alarm fire that broke out at the West Nursery Business Center in Linthicum on Tuesday morning.Anne Arundel County fire crews responded to the call shortly after 5:30 a.m.They said heavy fire and smoke were coming from the back and interior of the building once firefighters got there, and a Dumpster was on fire.Fire officials said the blaze was brought under control around 6:45 a.m.No injuries were reported. There’s no word on the extent of the damage.
