2 Killed In Anne Arundel County Crash. Two people were killed in a car crash in southern Anne Arundal County on Thursday evening, county fire officials said.Officials said one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Solomon’s Island Road and Grays Road near Harwood at about 5:50 p.m.A second person was flown from the scene to Prince George’s County Trauma Center, but later succumbed to their injuries, fire officials said.Fire officials said the victims were a 46-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man. Both were single occupants of two vehicles. (See EOA update with details from police report.)

6 Laurel Co-Workers Claim $250K Lottery Prize. Six co-workers from Laurel have claimed a $250,000 Mega Millions prize. The six men, who work at Central Wholesales, went to Maryland Lottery headquarters Thursday to claim their winnings.Jerry Nyamadi, T. McKinney, Ralph Jackson, Manuel Andersol, Adarias Frazier and Daniel Roberts said they have various plans for the money, which was won in Tuesday night’s drawing.”We almost didn’t play that day,” Nyamadi said. He said it was McKinney who urged them to buy tickets for the drawing, and they eventually agreed.

Giordano Tried To Redeem Life Insurance Policy. A Maryland man detained in Aruba in the presumed death of his travel partner had an accidental-death insurance policy on her for $1.5 million and sought to claim the money two days after reporting her missing, a person who provided information to the investigation told The Associated Press. The details of the policy obtained by Gary Giordano before his trip to Aruba may help explain why he has been detained on suspicion of involvement in the death of Robyn Gardner, 35, of Frederick, during their short getaway to the Dutch Caribbean island.

Baltimore Sees Increase In Bat Infestations. Bats usually don’t cause too much of a problem in Baltimore, but this year, many have had their homes infested by the winged creatures.Animal Control said it’s captured 188 bats from homes so far this year, and 12 of them tested positive for rabies.Experts said the weather may be responsible for driving the critters indoors. (Note: EOA would like to point out that it is an election year!)
