Heavy Rain Floods Roads, Strands Motorists. It was a long, messy and frustrating commute for thousands of motorists Monday as heavy rains put several roads and a portion of the heavily-trafficked Baltimore-Washington Parkway under water.Emergency crews told 11 News they received several reports of motorists who were stranded on Route 295 before 9 a.m. The portion of roadway under water was between Interstate 895 and Waterview Avenue in Baltimore City. The Parkway reopened, in both directions, shortly before 2:30 p.m.

BGE: Sorry For A/C Shutoffs During Heatwave. The Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is apologizing for long air conditioning shutoffs during a heat wave in late July.The utility has sent a letter apologizing for its performance on July 22. BGE activated its Peak Rewards program that day during a heat wave.Customers that participate in the voluntary program agree to a full or partial reduction in the running of their air conditioning during peak times. In exchange, they get credits on their annual bills of up to $200.The shutoffs in late July, however, were particularly long.

City Revving Up For Race Week. The grandstands are up, race day is nearing and local attractions are hoping to cash in.Indy cars will be racing into downtown Labor Day weekend for the first Baltimore Grand Prix. “For us, it’s a great opportunity to show off what Baltimore can do, and this is a great opportunity to have a huge festival over Labor Day weekend,” said Tom Noonan of Visit Baltimore.The celebration will last for a week. Starting Aug. 28, many museums, restaurants and attractions will be offering deals and discounts for Baltimore Race Week.

7 Arrested At Drug Raid At Dundalk Nightclub. Police in Baltimore County raided a Dundalk club that they said was a center for illegal drug distribution.After a 15-month investigation into the Black Hole Rock Club, authorities arrested seven people last week, including club manager Christopher Trikeriotis, 47, of Monkton.Detectives said they seized marijuana, methamphetamines, ecstasy, mushrooms and ketamine, which was allegedly bought and used openly inside the club. Police said they also found 175 marijuana plants growing in Trikeriotis’ home basement.
