UPDATE: 03:40pm 08/10/2011: Anne Arundel County Police have charged the suspect with 1st and 2nd degree murder and released a booking photo.

On August 9, 2011, at approximately 8:27 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to a residence in the unit block of 5th Avenue in Glen Burnie for a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers located a 47-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper torso. Additionally, officers located a 38-year-old female suffering from minor cuts. Both individuals were transported to Shock Trauma for treatment with the male victim having sustained life threatening injuries. The male victim, identified as James Gray Pfaff Jr., 47, of 1 5th Avenue in Glen Burnie, Maryland, later died from his injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the male and female, who lived together at the residence, were involved in a verbal altercation behind the residence that escalated and turned physical. At some point, both subjects entered the residence and the female suspect stabbed the male. Detectives from the Homicide Unit have since assumed responsibility for the investigation and are conducting witness interviews and have executed a search warrant on the residence.

It is unknown if the female suspect’s wounds were defensive or self-inflicted, but this is being investigated as a domestic-related incident involving the victim and suspect. Charges are pending against the suspect, Phyllis Marie Amonica, 38, of 1 5th Avenue in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
