Man Drowns After Jump From Pier In Orchard Beach

Anne Arundel County authorities are investigating the death of a 46 year old Brooklyn Park man who drowned in the Orchard Beach community last night shortly after 9:00pm.

The initial report was that a man had jumped off a pier at Main Street and Beach Promenade into Stony Creek and had not resurfaced. Fire crews launched rescue boats, dive teams, and a helicopter in the search. The man, identified as Charles Thompson (46, of Townsend Avenue in Brooklyn Park) was located about an hour later and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating it as an accident.
