Eastport Home & Garden Tour Achieves Record Attendance

The Eastport Civic Association’s (ECA) recent 6th Annual Home & Garden Tour attracted a record breaking enthusiastic crowd of people who toured 10 homes and two gardens at the Horn Point end of the Eastport peninsula.c

Tour organizers said the event generated funds that will be used to support programs that benefit the residents of Eastport.  Funds raised from the 2010 tour helped support camps for elementary school students, neighborhood crime prevention programs, and flowers on the Spa Creek bridge, and helped fund the Eastport Volunteer Fire Department’s new ladder truck and the Annapolis Drum and Bugle Corps.

“We are so pleased with the turnout for this year’s Home & Garden Tour, which set a new attendance record,” said Tour Chair Jenny Kottler.  “In addition to raising money for community programs, the tour offered people a unique opportunity to look behind the front doors and into the gardens of some amazing Eastport properties.”

“This year’s tour was really great, and the best part is that we were able to showcase the neighborhood that we all take so much pride in,” said Eastport Civic Association President Vic Pascoe.  “The funds raised will be used to better many peoples’ lives and improve our community.”

In addition to a booklet showing the tour stops and describing the homes, tour participants received the Eastport Civic Association’s Resource Directory, which lists  local business and services personally recommended by Eastport residents in the following categories: architects, banking, home construction and carpentry, home services, landscape and design, professional services, restaurants and retail.  The Resource Directory also is available online at www.eastportcivic.org/directory.

Business supporters of the tour included BB&T on Sixth Street; Blue Dot; Boatyard Bar & Grill; Brian Bays Insurance; Davis’ Pub; Deborah M. Schwab Landscape Architecture; Gate One Builders; Grow Garden Design & Installation; Heidler, Inc.; Home Professionals, Inc.; Kottler Works; Lewnes’ Prime Steakhouse; Lisa Masson Studio Gallery; Liz Lind Editions; Maryland Tint; Maximum Construction; Oakmont Homes, Inc.; Speight Studio Architects, Inc.; and Traynor Bros Construction, Inc.
