Anne Arundel County Fair, Fall Each Year
The Fair is an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization bringing family entertainment, competition and education to people of all ages in Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas. - Office Assistant/Receptionist: One person is needed to answer phones, perform light office duties and provide staff and attendees with event information during Fair week (9/14-9/18). No typing or computer skills are necessary. Contact Sharon Gertz at number or email above.
- Handyman: Volunteer needed year round for Fairgrounds maintenance such as mending fences, and light repair work. Leave message for Tom Collison or Walter Baase at number or email above.
- Researchers/Surveyors: Need a small group (5or 6) volunteers are needed on 9/16/11-9/18/11 and to collect survey information from fair attendees (as they are leaving) to measure success rate of the Fair. - Pro-Bono Architect: Need someone to design a 5-10 year plan for our barn area. Contact Fair President, John K. at email or number above. This would also be an ideal college project.
- Promotion Assistants: Six or seven volunteers are needed from to assist Entertainment Chairperson (Denise White) during Fair week (9/14-9/18) with registration, organization of contest participants, and execution of live events… Cutest Kid Contest, Scarecrow workshop, etc . - Restroom Monitor: One (1) volunteer is needed to see that restrooms are clean and stocked with supplies, and to thoroughly clean restrooms during nighttime or early morning hours. Contact Debbie Woolford K. at number or email above.
- Fair Team: Volunteers are needed year round to assist in the preparation and execution of all events at the Fairgrounds such as the Fair, Halloween Happening, Flea Markets, Craft Shows, and Demolition Derby. No skills required, just a willingness to help. Call 410-923-3400.

Baltimore Washington Medical Center “Camp Airways”, Aug. 1–5, 2011, 8:30 AM – 4 PM
Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) is sponsoring its 23rd Annual “Camp Airways” at Woods Presbyterian Church, Severna Park for children with asthma, ages 6 – 12. Junior counselor volunteers, age 15 and older, are needed to help with everyday activities and must be available to attend the camp for the entire week. Responsibilities include serving as a “camp buddy” for two assigned campers, assisting with arts & crafts, swimming, other outdoor activities, and more. Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails
Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization of dedicated volunteers helping to promote, protect and enhance the multi-modal trails of Anne Arundel County. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available for those willing to give a few hours a month, and both individuals and groups of volunteers are welcome. Jug BayWetlands Sanctuary
At the Sanctuary, children and adults collect water samples, clear trails, weigh turtles, guide visitors on nature walks, draw maps, lead canoe trips, make posters, seine for fish, host the Visitor Center on weekends, and more. Partners in Care
Partners In Care is an all-volunteer local nonprofit helping older adults remain independent in their homes. Drivers, receptionists, handymen, ride dispatchers, Life Line emergency response installers, and boutique workers–all are needed. No amount of volunteer time is too large or too small! Extensive experience is not needed: training is provided by Partners In Care for all positions. Drivers are especially needed to provide rides to doctors, grocery shopping, etc., either locally and/or to Baltimore and beyond. Rides are matched” one ride at a time and with several days’ notice for the volunteer driver. We also welcome monetary donations and donations of gently-used clothing and jewelry, quality furniture and household items to our recently-expanded resale boutique at 6 S. Ritchie Highway, Pasadena. There is also a need for volunteers to staff the boutique. Summer boutique hours are MWF 10 am– 4 pm, Tue/Thur 10 am – 7 pm.and Saturday 9 am–4 pm. Quiet Waters Park Volunteer Orientation, Jun. 18, 2011, 1:30 pm
A volunteer orientation meeting of about 30 minutes covering different volunteer positions and event sign ups will be held Saturday, June 18th at 1:30 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Quiet Waters Park (Gate fees will be waived). If you cannot make this meeting, we can individually schedule something to cover volunteer positions and events. Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (UCF)
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults provides free support programs, education, and resources to benefit young adults affected by cancer, as well as their family and friends, while promoting awareness and prevention of cancer. Volunteers, 18 and up, with good communication and organizational skills are needed to be community educators (members of the speaker’s bureau) to give at least 3 presentations a year to inform about cancers and UCF services. Cancer survivors- those who have lived with, through, or beyond cancer- are also ideal community educators. Training will be provided.
