Destination Maryland: Guide Offers Ideas, Values. Tourism officials are trying to make it easy for people to find things to do in Maryland!A new guide out this month — called Destination Maryland — offers dozens of ideas and money saving values, according to 11 News reporter Jennifer Franciotti. The USS Torsk at the Inner Harbor is one of hundreds of attractions featured in the guide. The new edition from the state’s Department of Tourism is an all-inclusive guide to hot spots.The magazine is divided by region with descriptions of what there is to see, along with hotels in each area.

13 hurt In MTA Bus Crash. Thirteen people were injured in a Wednesday afternoon crash involving a Maryland Transit Administration bus. The crash occurred at about 2:40 p.m. at Edmonson Avenue and Chapel Gate Lane in southwest Baltimore. Firefighters said the bus and a car collided.Twelve people were on the bus, 11 News learned. They were treated for minor injuries.

Hot Stuff: Which Schools Have Air Conditioning. For the second consecutive day, sweltering temperatures forced some area school systems to close early.As 11 News education reporter Tim Tooten said, going to school in an air-conditioned building is still a luxury for some — just ask the students who are still hoping for cooler days.In Baltimore County, classes were cut short three hours Wednesday. Even so, teachers have been trying to make due in the heat, Tooten reported.

8th Grade Field Trip Include Lunch At Hooters. For one group of central Pennsylvania eighth-graders, a recent field trip to Baltimore included lunch at Hooters — a restaurant better known for its busty waitresses than its food. The Berwick Middle School students were visiting the National Aquarium last week. Chaperones took them to various restaurants for lunch because the group of 100 was too large for a single place. The Bloomsburg Press Enterprise reports Tuesday that one group of 15 to 20 students ended up at Hooters.
