Crofton: Early Morning Stabbing Sends 3 To Shock Trauma

UPDATE 03:06pm 06/15/2011: The following release from the Anne Arundel County Police indicates that all victims and the suspect are in serious yet stable condition:

On June 15, 2011, at approximately 6:37 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to the 1600 block of Forest Hill Court in Crofton for a report of family violence. A female victim inside of the residence contact police and reported that her father assaulted her along with her sister and their 49-year-old mother.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with both children, a 13-year-old female and a 20-year-old female, who were suffering from apparent lacerations to the upper body. Additionally, the 49-year-old female victim was located inside of the residence suffering from apparent lacerations to the upper body. All three victims were transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where they are currently in serious, but stable condition. Officers established a perimeter and canvassed the area in an effort to locate the suspect. Officers with the assistance of a K-9 unit located the suspect at approximately 7:30 a.m. in a nearby wooded area in the 2400 block of Chelmsford Drive. The suspect was suffering from several lacerations and was taken into custody without incident.

The 49-year-old suspect was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he is currently in serious, but stable condition. Charges are pending against the suspect, who is under police guard at the hospital. His name is not being released at this time. Detectives from the Homicide Unit have assumed responsibility for the investigation, which is ongoing. UPDATE 10:15am 06/15/2011: Eye On Annapolis just returned form the scene and here is the latest update. A call for a domestic dispute was received at 637am for 1615 Forest Hill Court. One of the daughters (unknown which one) reported that the father has stabbed the sister and mother. The daughters exited the residence and were met by police and medical crews outside.The father attempted to flee and was apprehended by K-9 officers at 7:30am in the 2400 block of Chelmsford Lane.

The daughters, ages 13 and 20, are reported in stable condition. The mother, 49 is reported in critical condition and the father ,49, is reported in serious condition. All have lacerations and stab wounds to their upper body and all were transported y ground to Shock-Trauma.

There is no history of past domestic incidents at the residence.

From a neighbor, the daughters walked from the house on their own and officers entered the house with guns drawn. The family had lived there 4 to 5 years (property records indicate the house was last sold in December 2006) and kept to themselves. The younger daughter just finished 7th grade at Crofton Middle School yesterday and the older one is a student at the University of Maryland.

Details are sketchy at this point, but apparently a domestic dispute escalated to the point where a father stabbed three family members sending them to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Preliminary reports indicate a 52 year old woman, a 20 year old woman and a 13 year old girl were all transported.

The incident occurred just before 7:00am this morning in the 1600 block of Forest Hill Court in Crofton, Maryland.

After the stabbing, the father fled the scene and was apprehended shortly thereafter with the use of an Anne Arundel County Police helicopter. He was taken into custody and also transported to the hospital with severe lacerations to the body.
