Anne Arundel Cops On The Run

The Anne Arundel County Police Department will be participating in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Begun in 1986, this is the run’s 25th Anniversary in Maryland.

In an effort to help raise money and awareness for the athletes taking part in the Summer Games, on Thursday June 9, 2011, Anne Arundel County Police Officers will be running approximately 15 miles. Officers will begin at approximately 9 a.m. at the Glen Burnie Town Center and will travel along Ritchie Highway through the communities of Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severna Park, and Arnold before ending at the Naval Academy Bridge at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Don’t miss your chance to see the exciting Law Enforcement Torch Run. Come out and join us by cheering on our runners as the flame torch travels down Ritchie Highway. Ultimately, the torch will arrive via relay at the Opening Ceremony for the 2011 Summer Special Olympics being held at Towson University June 10-12.
