Baysox Welcome Royalty To Bowie

The Bowie Baysox announce today Legends of Wrestling Night at Prince George’s Stadium Thursday, June 16, as the team takes on the Reading Phillies at 7:05 p.m.  The event features a special appearance by WWE Monday Night Raw commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler.  Renowned for his color commentary and feuds with comedian Andy Kaufman and Brett “The Hitman” Hart, The King will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game, and sign autographs and pose for photos with fans throughout the game.

Baysox Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye looks forward to the event.  “Last season, we introduced our Legends of Wrestling Event with the hardcore legend, Mick Foley.”  Wrye said.  “This year, we thought our fans would enjoy the royal treatment.  Lawler has been an icon in the wrestling world for decades, and he remains one of the most popular figures in the sport.”

A 2007 World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame Inductee, Lawler is a favorite among WWE fans for his historic career and weekly contributions on Raw with broadcast partners Jim Ross and Michael Cole.  He began wrestling professionally in 1970 and wrote his autobiography “It’s Good to be King…Sometimes” in 2002.
