Panel Of Anne Arundel Judges Reduces Convicted Rapist, David Raszewski’ s Sentence. A panel of three judges in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court reduced the sentence of a man who pleaded guilty to luring a 7-year-old girl off a playground and raping her in March 2009.The panel decided to reduce David Raszewski’s sentence to 50 years in prison with all but 20 years suspended. He’ll still have to register as a sex offender, and he’ll be required to serve five years of supervised probation.The victim’s family is struggling to understand how and why the sentence was reduced.”I’m pretty upset with Maryland right now,” the victim’s mother said.

Tuition Hikes Likely At Anne Arundel Community College. The cost of going to school is about to go up for students at Anne Arundel Community College, and administrators are blaming the County Council.The council voted Tuesday afternoon to reduce the school’s budget request by more than $5 million, according to 11 News education reporter Tim Tooten. The school’s president said that’s enough to force an increase in tuition and raise the possibility of cutting crucial programs.The college had been bracing for possible budget reductions for days, Tooten said, but school officials held out hope that they’d be spared.

Blue Angels Show Canceled Due To VA Incident. The Blue Angels, who make an annual appearance during Commissioning Week at the Naval Academy, will not fly this year.The Navy said the team is completing additional training in Pensacola, Fla., after the group flew too low during a show in Virginia.No one was hurt, but the Blue Angels have been put on standby.Their next show in Annapolis may not be until 2013.

Motorists Face Toll Hikes In Maryland. Maryland intends to ask motorists to pay more to use its bridges and tunnels while also allowing some motorists to travel toll-free, said 11 News Lead I-Team reporter Jayne Miller.The Transportation Authority Board is likely to formally propose a package of toll increases next week that would affect motorists using the Ft. McHenry and Harbor Tunnels and the Bay Bridge by October, Miller reported.The tolls at the Ft. McHenry and Harbor Tunnels would jump from $2 to $3. The Bay Bridge toll would double to $5.
