AA County Warrant Sweep In Memory Of Christopher JonesAnne Arundel County police made more than 40 arrests this weekend as part of a crackdown on crime that honored a teen on the anniversary of his death.Christopher Jones was killed two years ago while riding his bike in Crofton. The 14-year-old who wanted to become a sheriff had been beaten by gang members.Since the death of Jones, his mother, Jenny Adkins, has worked to stop violence against children. Adkins was honored when the Anne Arundel County police asked her to accompany them on the huge Fists To Cuff warrant sweep.

 

Baltimore Attorney Facing Child Sex Charges.  A Baltimore attorney and children’s entertainment company owner was busted Monday in an undercover sting on charges involving his intention to have sex with a minor, according to Florida authorities.Howard Scott Kalin, 47, was arrested by the Lake County, Fla., sheriff’s cyber crime unit on charges related to traveling to Florida to have sex with what he believed to be a child.Florida authorities said undercover detectives were contacted by Kalin in 2011 through online chatting services. During that time, Kalin identified himself under his alias name of “Ben Aldridge.”

Student Hurt In Greased Climb At Naval Academy. A midshipman taking part in the traditional climb of the grease-covered 21-foot Herndon Monument at the U.S. Naval Academy was taken away in what appeared to be a neck brace.The female midshipman was fastened on to a stretcher, and medical attendants could be seen taking care to secure her neck. She was ridden away on a cart.Deb Goode, a Naval academy spokeswoman, said the midshipman was taken to a hospital as a precaution.The woman was treated and released at the hospital.

Man Arrested, Another Sought In Separate AA Robberies. Anne Arundel County police said they’ve arrested a man in a Glen Burnie gas station robbery, and they’re looking for another man in relation to a separate robbery.Joseph Veneble Lunzell, 48, of Baltimore, was arrested Friday and charged with robbery, felony theft and assault.Police said Lunzell went into a Sunoco gas station in the 300 block of Hospital Drive around noon Friday, took some money and assaulted the clerk. Police said Lunzell ran away, but officers were able to find and arrest him a short time later.
