Marylanders React To Death Of Osama Bin Laden. President Barack Obama announced late Sunday night the death of Osama bin Laden — nine years, seven months and 20 days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. “I can report to the American people that the U.S. has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden,” Obama said. “Let us think back to the same sense of unity that prevailed on 9/11 … this … is a testament to the greatness of our country.”

Owner Clings To SUV During Glen Burnie Carjacking. A 22-year-old man was dragged through the street clinging to his SUV Saturday after two men tried to hijack it, according to Anne Arundel County police.The carjacking occurred at a Shell gas station, at 6616 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, where the victim was making a purchase, police said.The victim saw the two men trying to steal his 1995 Isuzu Trooper and ran outside to try to stop the theft. There was a struggle, but the culprits managed to drive off with the victim’s SUV while he clung to the driver’s side door.

Maryland Teacher Name National Teacher Of The Year. A Maryland teacher of the year was named the nation’s top educator Sunday, and she will be honored at the White House.Michelle Shearer, a chemistry teacher at Urbana High School in Frederick, was honored earlier this year with the Maryland Teacher of the Year Award and was named a finalist for national award in January, competing against teachers from Florida, Illinois and Montana.It’s an honor Shearer said she doesn’t take lightly.

Boy Found Clutching Father’s Dead Body In Jessup. A man who stopped by his late grandfather’s house in Howard County to do some cleaning found another man dead and a young boy by his side.WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Sheldon Dutes reported Najib Abdullah was found in a closet in a Jessup house. Police said they believe Abdullah and his 5-year-old son were last seen Tuesday night leaving a relative’s home after a domestic incident.”He was in an altercation with his father Tuesday night. His father was the last person to see him,” said Rhonda Price, the man’s mother.
