This video was shot during the 2011 Herndon Monument Climb at the United States Naval Academy. The climb is the culmination for the freshman (plebe) class. The monument is slathered with 200 pounds of lard.
Apologies for the shaky video–was juggling a camera, phone and video at once. Also, this does not go to the end. I had to leave early for another appointment and as luck would have it, they finished the climb as I was 50′ outside of the gates.

We didn’t get to see the end!
I know….:( I had another appointment and had to leave. It looked like they were still struggling and then (just my luck) they got it as I was about 50 feet outside fo the USNA gates. Sorry!
No worries, John. It was still fun to watch. I’d never been able to see it in anything but still photos. So, this was still a treat!
