Edgewater Highs Selling More Than Gas & Snacks

From the appropriately named High’s Dairy Store comes a tale from the Anne Arundel County Police where it is suspected that in addition to your milk, gas, and pizza, you can also buy marijuana!

On May 2, 2011, at approximately 8:10 p.m., members of Southern District’s P.A.C.T. unit were investigating a narcotics complaint at the Highs store located in the 100 block of W. Central Avenue in Edgewater when narcotics detectives witnessed a drug transaction occur on the parking lot of the business.

Consequently, a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle leaving the scene. During the stop, suspected marijuana was recovered from a 17-year-old passenger of the vehicle. The person distributing the marijuana was identified as an employee of the High’s store. That individual was arrested at the store and found to be in possession of an additional 12.7 grams of suspected marijuana. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana was $280. The following suspects were arrested and charged accordingly:

Suspect #1: Jacob E. Jones, 19, of 855 Annapolis Road, Edgewater, Md. The suspect was charged with CDS Distribution-Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute-Marijuana and Possession of CDS-Marijuana

Suspect #2: 17-year-old male from Edgewater. The suspect was charged with Possession of CDS-Marijuana
