Brooklyn Park Shooting

From the Anne Arundel County Police Department:

On May 2, 2011, at approximately 1:34 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 5200 block of Wasena Avenue in Brooklyn Park for a report of shots fired. Witnesses reported hearing shots fired and seeing two males running in the alley.

Upon arrival, officers located the 44-year-old female victim from Brooklyn Park in a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to Shock Trauma, where she is currently in serious, but stable condition. Through the investigation, it was learned that two male suspects approached the victim while she was sitting in her vehicle. One suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim. Both suspects then fled on foot through the alley in the 5200 block of Wasena Avenue heading in the direction of Baltimore City. Several officers, a K-9 Unit and the Aviation Unit canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.

At this time, the motive remains under investigation; however, preliminary information indicates that this was possibly not a random act of violence. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Detective Travis Baldwin of the Northern District at 410-222-6135.
