Bizarre Homicide Investigated In Glen Burnie

Last night, the operator of a vehicle lost control, crossed Ritchie Highway, and struck two pedestrians in a parking lot at Ann’s Dairi Creme in Glen Burnie. The driver ultimately died, but it appears that it was not from the accident, but from stab woulds received just prior.  Here is the police report from the Anne Arundel County Police:

On May 29th, 2011, at approximately 10:21 P.M., officers from the Northern District responded to the Ann’s Dairi Crème, located on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

The investigation determined that a vehicle was travelling from Americana Circle and crossed Ritchie Highway before jumping the curb and striking a tree.  After striking the tree, the vehicle was misdirected into the parking lot of Ann’s Dairi Crème and struck two individuals before stopping.

The two individuals who were struck by the vehicle were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. The driver, a 39 year old male identified as, Lamonte Tracey Sherman, from 300 blk. Stephens Circle, Aberdeen, MD  was injured and transported to Baltimore Washington Hospital where he later died.

At the hospital it was determined that Lamonte Sherman had injuries to his upper torso that were inconsistent with a vehicle crash. The injuries appear to have been obtained from a stabbing prior to the crash.  The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene.  Detectives have conducted several interviews and have recovered evidence of the assault.  This case is actively under investigation.
