Name That Fish

The Bowie Baysox have announced the Name The Fish Contest at Prince George’s Stadium to name the “Pitching Fish” on the team’s new alternate logo.  The contest takes place at the stadium from Opening Night Thursday, April 14, through Thursday, July 7.  The winning name will be announced on Friday, July 15, as the Baysox take the field in black jerseys featuring the alternate logo.

Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser loves the new logo.  “The Baysox were really excited to unveil the alternate logo and the jerseys,” said Kaiser.  “We can hardly wait to see all the great names people will enter into the contest.  All fans have to do to enter is stop by Louie’s Locker Room during a game, or the front office during regular office hours Monday through Friday.”

The winner receives a black Baysox alternate jersey featuring the logo, eight lower reserved seat tickets, a skybox for a weeknight game and the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before a game.

The “Pitching Fish” is a combination of the Rockfish or Striped Bass and the Oyster Toadfish.  Those two species were selected because both thrive in a healthy Bay.  The Baysox wear black jerseys with the alternate logo every Friday night.  In conjunction with the new logo, the Baysox have partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Trust to help raise funds for the independent, nonprofit grant-making organization.

Baysox Baseball – We’ll Knock Your ‘Sox Off.
