Myra Cason Homicide Update

Anne Arundel County Police would like to remind the public that the murder of Myra Cason in January in a Glen Burnie parking lot is still very much an active investigation. They have released the following reminder:

This incident remains an active homicide investigation. Investigators have conducted interviews, collected evidence to be analyzed, consulted with other jurisdictions to determine if there were any incidents similar in nature and have reviewed and monitored law enforcement databases in an effort to identify a possible suspect.

On April 25, 2011, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Branch of the NAACP is holding a planned gathering in the parking lot where the homicide took place in the 7300 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Detectives from the Homicide Unit will be present to hand out informational fliers and to continue to seek information from the public regarding this incident. On Friday, January 28th, 2011 at approximately 1051 hours, officers responded to a call of a sick/injured subject in the parking lot of the Pep Boys and Gavigan’s Furniture stores, 7300 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, Maryland. Officers found a female victim inside a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper body.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department Criminal Investigation Division were called and this incident is being investigated as a homicide. The motive appears to be robbery-related.

The victim was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore City. There is no information on a suspect at this time.
