Club Tech Radio Now On WNAV

Mekha Johnson, 12, Boys & Girls Club member and of the Host of Club Tech Radio Show.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BGCAA), in partnership with WNAV and the Comcast Foundation, introduces a new technology program called the Club Tech Radio Show. The radio show will tape every Thursday and air on Sunday’s through April 24th at 9:30 a.m. on WNAV.

One of the most dynamic components of this program is that it allows youth to write, produce, and host their own radio show while learning the technology that goes into radio programming. With the guidance of Boys & Girls Club staff, and the technical support of WNAV, Club members are given the opportunity and responsibility of creating 30-minute radio shows featuring question and answer sessions with members of the local community.

The first Club Tech Radio Show aired on Sunday, March 6th, and featured Cliff Russell, President/CEO of Data Bridgeworks, LLC in Bowie, MD. The Q&A will include questions about starting a small business, motivation to succeed, upbringing, family and education.

The Club Tech Radio Show will give Club members an opportunity to acquire skills needed to succeed in a technology-driven world. It will also help members who otherwise would not have had the chance, to explore the field of Radio Broadcasting as a career.

“Technology has changed the way our children learn and play, and we are pleased to provide them with the proper training through the Club Tech Radio Show program,” said Reginald Broddie, Chief Professional Officer of BGCAA. “With technology being so prominent in the everyday life of today’s youth, we know that these skills are key to our children’s success in school and their future workplaces.”
