Carjacking In Glen Burnie

From the Anne Arundel County Police Department:
On April 30, 2011 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the Motor Vehicle Administration at 6601 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie for a reported carjacking.

A twenty-two year old male victim from Linthicum said he had been at the Shell gas station at 6616 Ritchie Highway to make a purchase when he observed two males attempting to steal his vehicle, a 1995 Isuzu Trooper. He approached his vehicle and a struggle ensued.  The suspects drove off with the victim’s car while the victim was clinging to the driver’s side door.

The vehicle traveled to the lot of the Motor Vehicle Administration at which time the victim was able to grab the steering wheel causing the suspect driver to lose control and crash the vehicle into part of the building. Both suspects then fled from the vehicle on foot, traveling towards the Morris Hill neighborhood area.  The victim was thrown from the vehicle during the collision, but sustained only minor injuries.  He was transported to Harbor Hospital by paramedics for a laceration to the lip.

Officers and a canine unit searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Both suspects were described as black males, 16-18 years of age.  The driver was last observed wearing basketball style shorts, a white t-shirt, and a black fleece jacket. The second suspect was observed wearing jeans and a dark colored jacket.
